Why Ski Meribel?

Meribel may be one of the greatly popular ski resorts but it still maintains its traditional Savoyarde style making it one of the most attractive in France. The resort offers a bowling alley, swimming pool, an Olympic ice skating rink and a newly opened fitness centre. There are shops and boutiques to browse and a twice weekly market selling local produce. Peaceful scenic walks to take in some of the breathtaking views are plentiful and surround the resort. For those who want to try something a little different, paragliding, dog sledging, snow shoeing and snow biking are also available. To really treat yourself scenic flights over the ski area are truly breathtaking. There is a wide variety of both bars and restaurants to choose from providing live music, theme nights and sky sports.  There are a couple of nightclubs or you can go for a quiet atmosphere if you prefer. Dining wise there are all types to choose from, simple to Michelin starred, either way a wide variety of traditionally prepared cuisine.

Skiing in Meribel

The resorts centre sits at 1400m in the heart of the three valleys, one of the largest linked ski areas in the world. The skiing opportunities here are truly endless, with 600km worth of pistes to tackle. With such a perfect position and link system, you could travel from place to place without ever having to remove your skis. Meribel alone homes 150km of pistes including the ladies Olympic downhill and the highest slope sits at 2950m. Transporting the enthusiasts are 53 lifts, taking them to a huge choice of runs for all abilities. The resort has an impressive 650 snowmaking cannons and is ideal for snowboarding with huge amounts of off piste, 2 terrain parks and a half pipe.

Location and Access

Meribel is situated in the Tarentaise valley in the French Alps within the Vanoise National Park. Geneva is the main airport with international flights arriving from all over the world. It is 83 miles (134km) from the resort. Chambery is the nearest airport with a transfer distance of 62 miles (100km) and just over an hour away. Although It is a much smaller airport, it serves well to a growing number of low cost airlines mainly from the UK. There are also 2 other airports within driving distance of Meribel, Lyon and Grenoble. For ferry travel from the UK, Meribel is 594 miles drive from Calais and a total of  60 Euro in toll fees would be payable. The resort is easily accessible by all major motorways.


Meribel offers a large selection of accommodation, mainly stunning chalets, all with superb positions for access to the slopes and entertainment of the resort.  All have the necessary facilities for a comfortable stay and many also offer hot tubs, saunas, spa baths and Jacuzzi’s.  There are also hotels and apartments to choose from but regardless of which you go for, a stunning landscape and breathtaking views are guaranteed.

What to Pay

Accomodation starts from as little as 35 Euros per night.
Lift passes can be purchased for Meribel alone but if you are able to ski it is recommended that you buy a pass covering the three valleys. The Meribel pass starts at 39.50 for adults and 27.50 for children. Family tickets can be bought for 2 adults and 2 children, these start at 611 and a minimum of 6 days is required.

Adult prices for the Three valley passes start at 47 for a full day and 235 for 6 days. Family tickets can also be purchased for the three valleys and Half day and season tickets are  available for both. All prices shown are in Euros. Passports are required when purchasing family tickets.
