A full of life market town situated near Mont Blanc, Morzine is a prime example of  how you would expect to find a French ski resort. The town offers a wonderful choice of activities other than those requiring snow and has a varied events calendar which continues through the year.  With too many to list, Morzine has something for everyone, from active to chilled and indoor or outdoor. Adrenaline fuelled activity such as parapenting and climbing will satisfy the active while the health centre and nearby walks can be enjoyed by the more peaceful guest. Skiing in Morzine

Being one of the dozen resorts that make up the world famous Port-du-Soleil ski circuit, Nendaz is a perfect location to take advantage of the extensive collection of skiing opportunities in this impressive area. At an altitude of  1000m snow coverage on the lower runs can sometimes be a problem but the resort has 322 snow cannons to aid it in ensuring this doesn’t happen. There is skiing above 2000m so generally reliable on those. The resort itself has 81 pisted downhill slopes ,served by 69 lifts able to transport  256,000 skiers and snowboarders per hour. The right pass will allow you to branch out further and take one of the 209 lifts to explore the 423 individual pistes the Port-du-Soleil has on offer- an amazing 650km in total. You are pretty much able to travel between resorts by linked lifts which stretch from France to Switzerland.  The Vast region caters wonderfully for those above beginners level. Intermediates can enjoy the wide selection of terrain and runs to really get the adrenaline going. Experts have an array of challenges including a world cup run which has a full 1100m descent and the famous ‘swiss wall’ which is only for the exceptionally brave. Morzine itself is a lot less hard hitting, with numerous nursery slopes dotted around the village to retain the interest of the beginners. Snowboarders are well catered for with one of Europes largest fun parks nearby and the snowboard park in the neighbouring village of Les Gets. Morzine is ideal for those learning, but does Off Piste access. There is also 95km of cross country trails in Morzine alone.

Location and Access

Part of the largest ski area in the French Alps, Morzine is an hours drive from Geneva Airport making it ideal for weekend breaks due to the small transfer time. The resorts main road link is the A40 which runs by it. Ferry travel is perfectly feasible as It is roughly 8 hours drive from Calais.

As you would expect from a typical French Ski resort, Morzine offers an abundance of hotels and Chalets. Whatever the choice, whether it be a humble hotel or a exclusive high quality Chalet, the surroundings ensure it retains it character and charm. Spa facilities are available at most, including saunas, Jacuzzis and steam baths and they are all fully equipped to guarantee a comfortable and welcoming stay.

What to Pay

Hotels are available from as little as 54 Euros per room and Chalets vary greatly in price as there are so many alternatives dependant on your requirements.  A full pass which enables you to ski the whole Port-du-Soleil region, in both France and Switzerland, starts from 32 Euros for an Adult for 1 day and from 200 Euros for a week. A pass for Morzine alone, which would benefit those with limited experience,  are approximately 168 Euros for the week.
